Ten months ago, I began a quest to find the perfect search engine ranking tool. In the process, I have also found the closest thing to a perfect search engine submission tool as well.
I tried more than 15 programs, from the well-known, expensive software to the freebies offered on Tucows, but TopDog outshines them all!
Although I was primarily looking for a program that would do my ranking reports for me, I found that this one is also very capable of doing the submissions as well, but giving me full
control of what I submitted, and to which engines.
Submitting
When you make the decision to submit using TopDog, you fill out a submission profile, select the criteria for submission, and enter all the details necessary for submitting to the
search engines you are about to make.
You can then choose to submit to all search engines which you have selected at once, or to each one individually. I choose to submit to each one separately, because I am very much a
control freak when it comes to submitting. Essentially, then, what happens is that TopDog gets ready to make the submission to the individual search engine, asks me if that's what I want, and does it for me. It also
has a built-in translation feature, so I can now effortlessly submit for my Russian technology client! Since resubmitting unnecessarily adversely affects position, I am thrilled to find that the intelligent
"search & submit" algorithms avoid such problems entirely.
The "Instant Update" feature had me skeptical at first, but when I would go in and manually check the search engines as well as the "Show Last Submission Results"
(which actually shows you the "thank you" page from any search engine you've submitted to), I eventually found that the accuracy of this feature was impeccable.
Ranking
Now THIS feature is the one I swear by!
It used to take me literally hours to find the search engine rankings, compare them with results from the last time I ran a report, and then write an analysis of what was going on. I
tried everything on the market, but when I would go in and manually check immediately after the software, I would invariably find discrepancies!
With TopDog, however, I found no such problems. It was so consistently accurate that I finally was able to stop checking up on it constantly. (I do still check from time to time, just
to reassure myself, but have yet to catch the software in a mistake.)
It runs through every search engine I choose, using each search term I choose, and every page I choose, with complete accuracy.
And to add to the value, I run the search again the next week, and TopDog displays any changes to the ranking that have happened since the last report. Save this new search to a new
project file, and I can see the history of how the ranking has changed over time.
Using an html format, the changes are clearly marked so that I can tell what has risen and what has fallen, how many places it has risen or fallen, and it highlights all #1 spots in
green.
It also has the capability of exporting to a spreadsheet, so I can append it to the Excel sheet I keep for each site. Although I don't much care for spreadsheets as a visual, CEOs and
CFOs certainly love them!
Responsive Tech Support
The tech support is the most responsive of ANY computer support I've ever used.
As you can see from this article, I absolutely love this product. It is the first product I have ever publicly endorsed, and I foresee endorsing it from now on.
